Chasing Perfect

August 4, 2019 by cecilyjoy No Comments

This is a guest post from Shanda Fulbright.  Shanda was generous with her time and went live in my Facebook group to discuss this topic- Chasing Perfect.

We were on our way to church and my son wasn’t happy. He looked down at his resin
sculpture, a dog he created with a mold he made, and sighed in disgust.
“What’s wrong?” I asked him. He worked on this piece all day. He was so proud when it first
came out of the mold. He sanded it, cleaned and polished it. He even touched up the edges
and smoothed out the imperfections.

Simple Health Tips.  When I think of overall health, illness prevention, and inflammation reduction, initially, I think, “wow! That’s a big, broad topic.” There are so many things I could say, tips I could give, and ways
I could actively guide you to improve your situation.

While I enjoy learning the nitty-gritty, I don’t always enjoy teaching it. Because simplicity is the name of my game. My overarching goal in everything I do is to leave you in such a capable place, that you no longer need me, in order to live the healthy, happy life you dream of. My goal is for you to own it!

So, I’m going to give you my “big three” for simple health tips.  This will cover over-all health…  including tips for reducing inflammation.

How to Overcome Low Self Esteem and Insecurities

May 23, 2019 by cecilyjoy 6 Comments

I really wish low self esteem and insecurities were uncommon.  Unfortunately, though, it seems to be a very common, nearly universal struggle.  Here’s the thing about common, though: Common doesn’t mean it’s God’s design.  God calls us to abundant life, and that is not a life lived in fear with low self worth.  That’s why I wanted to write this post on how to overcome low self esteem and insecurities.

Get Your Priorities Straight – ‘Spring Clean Your Life Series’ Part 1

Welcome to Part 1 of the ‘Spring Clean Your Life Series.’  In part 1,we talk all about how to get your priorities straight.

Picture this scene with me.  Another day is done.  As you face the evening and evaluate your day… you know that you missed the mark.  You were impatient with your husband, didn’t read your Bible, the only prayer you said was asking forgiveness after losing your cool at the kids for running late…  and you just know that you need to get your priorities straight.  But… how?

How Praying Scripture Can Strengthen Your Walk With God

November 10, 2018 by cecilyjoy 6 Comments

Silence.  My silence, God’s silence… I really wasn’t sure.  But I think it was mostly my silence.  My prayer life was dry. Dusty, broken… nearly non-existent.  I knew this wasn’t what a healthy prayer life was supposed to look like or feel like.  I allowed myself to become complacent, lazy, and more involved with myself than pursuing a close relationship with God.  But there’s one thing that kept pulling me back, and that was God’s word.  That’s when I realized that praying scripture could be the answer to my all-but-abandoned prayer life.

Why I Don’t Deserve to Write About Jesus.

November 6, 2018 by cecilyjoy No Comments
When we as women feel unworthy, scripture points us to the grace of Jesus. His grace is sufficient for us, for his power is made perfect in weakness.

Why I don't deserve to write about Jesus... and how his grace changes everything. What scripture says about our weakness and worthiness.Staring out the window at the clouds and the grass, a war is going on within me.  I feel like I need to get words out, but I’m not even sure what those words need to be.  I feel compelled to write, but I don’t feel I deserve to write.  At least, I don’t deserve to write about Jesus.

That’s the funny thing, though.  Jesus is exactly who I feel compelled to write about.  But how could I?

I’m not a theologian, and despite my deepest desire, I’m no prayer warrior.  I love the word, but I’m far from an expert.  But still… I’m compelled to write about Jesus.
